The Meridian Splendour was registered in Southampton on 18 September 1979. She is a ferrocement ketch built in Westerham, Kent, at the Potter and Bishop shipyard.

Alan Buchanan (1922–2015) was the naval architect and aeronautical engineer who designed her. He was internationally renowned for creating the first fibreglass yacht in Europe. He designed more than 2,400 vessels, including boats built to compete in ocean races. By the 1960s, he was already a legend for his craftsmanship and the design of his beautiful, fast sailing boats.

After countless adventures across the Caribbean and the South Seas, the Meridian Splendour now sails the waters of Cabo de Gata in search of new adventures.
